Helena taught in primary schools in South Africa until 1996. She emigrated her husband and two children to the United Kingdom in 1997. Over the subsequent 23 years, Helena has worked in education as a class teacher, Special Needs Coordinator, Deputy Headteacher and for 14 years as a very successful and well regarded Primary Headteacher (3-11) in the Alfreton area.
Helena has worked as a mentor for other headteachers developing their role as inspiring leaders. Since leaving Christ the King Primary Academy, she has worked for Christopher Nieper Education Trust, initially involved in a project with local schools in supporting the smooth transition between the primary and secondary phases and also utilising her training and expertise in Supervision of staff.
Helena works now as the Trust Primary School Improvement Officer. Helena works with the Primary schools within the Trust and local area providing support and challenge to Headteachers, Leadership teams and teachers. She is passionate about education and ensuring that the children are at the heart of everything she does. She also believes that there needs to be a balance between the expectation required of staff in our schools and their mental, physical, and spiritual wellbeing.
